The SCS Validator provides a simple and inexpensive method for validating transient parking cards in conjunction with the SCS Smart Card Pay On Foot System.
The off line validator plugs into a standard 110V wall outlet and does not require any cabling to the central server. Available validation schemes include:
The operator may set up validation schemes to determine whether multiple validations are to be cumulative or prioritized. Up to five validations may be applied to a single transient Smart Card per transaction. This means that a parking customer may receive an incentive for shopping at multiple merchants.
Operation The base SCS Validator is extremely easy to use. There are no options or buttons available to help eliminate confusion of merchant staff. The parking customers’ original Smart Card is inserted into the card slot located at the top of the unit. The SCS Validator will immediately read the card to confirm validity, then write the preprogrammed validation to the cards internal memory. The entire validation takes approximately three seconds and is concluded when the SCS Validator LCD screen reads “Done”.
This card is then returned to the parking customer who will insert this card in the SCS Paystation before returning to their vehicle. The SCS Paystation will calculate the fee due after applying any validations written the smart card.
Reporting Each active validator will be given a unique identifying merchant code. This will provide the operator with the ability to deactivate any validator from the SCS System Server.
Additionally reports are available to detail the quantity and value of all validations for a period. This will aid operators in calculating merchant charge back that need to occur. This information could also be shared with merchants to illustrate details about when their peak validation periods are.
